A multi-channel campaign kicks off an independent TED series with distinct brand identity, media and merchandising drawn from a vibrant local culture

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx Newtown is a program of local, self-organised events bringing people together for conversations that spark curiosity and builds connections.

Developed from the TEDx Haymarket series, whereas that event was oriented towards tech startups, TEDx Newtown reflected the art and urban culture of its burgeoning inner-city suburb.

Solution

Develop a new brand identity system communicating the values of TEDx Newtown
Develop a marketing strategy to target and reach new audiences
Design promotional materials and digital content that engaged with the community and drew audiences from across Sydney.
Execute social media strategies for adverts.

Inspiration:
The project was to reflect the local culture of Newtown with its vibrant art and cultural scene. Newtown’s iconic graffiti, independent music, and multicultural restaurants were key influences in developing a distinct identity.
